Remember that the goal is to make a sale; so you need to be able to captivate your audience at once.

Know the product or service that you are offering:

Before you worry about what to say, educate yourself first about the product and the service that you are trying to sell. Most people are turned off by a salesperson’s incompetence and you can avoid this by educating yourself about your product and service.

Know what you are selling. Expect that the customer will ask questions, so prepare yourself to answer all of them. Do not be like one of those people who take some time to reply, with a few seconds of uncomfortable dead air in between.

Take note of what you want to say:

It is always good to take note of the things that you wish to say so that you do not forget it. Write them down and always keep them with you so that you can refer to your notes from time to time and be guided by it.

Be honest:

Be sincere about your purpose because a customer will appreciate your sincerity about something. Remember than even though your goal is to make money, the end point is to build a relationship with the people. You cannot build a positive relationship if you are not sincere. So be honest and clients will appreciate your sincerity.

So, making a sales pitch that works really is about knowing your customers, the products that you’re selling and being honest about your offer.
